Saree draping for destination wedding guests in Sri Lanka

Help every guest feel comfortable and beautifully dressed, with saree draping that honours the outfit and the occasion.

Salon Nayana guide · Reviewed August 2026

Saree draping is often treated as the final quick step, yet a destination wedding adds unfamiliar rooms, packed garments, several outfit changes and fixed transport times. Giving draping its own list and station keeps the finish calm and secure.

Book the service for the person and event

A guest attending several functions may need draping only once. Record the exact event so the appointment does not appear on every schedule. Add dupatta setting or another dressing request as a separate note rather than assuming it is included.

Prepare one complete labelled garment set

Keep the saree, blouse, underskirt, shapewear if used, fall and pico finish, pins, jewellery and footwear together. Check fit before travelling. A draping appointment cannot correct a missing blouse fastening or an unsuitable underskirt at the final minute.

  • Saree pressed and ready
  • Blouse tried on with the intended undergarments
  • Underskirt or preferred draping base
  • Jewellery and waist belt if used
  • Footwear available so length can be checked
  • Reference image for a requested drape

Schedule the order clearly

Hair and make-up commonly begin before draping so the garment remains fresh, but the final order depends on the hairstyle, outfit and room plan. Tell each guest where to wait after completing make-up and where to bring the labelled outfit.

Plan for comfort and movement

Share whether the guest will sit through a ceremony, walk outdoors, dance, climb steps or travel by vehicle. The finished drape should support the event as well as the visual reference. Ask the guest to move and sit before leaving the station.

Group draping needs a separate station

For a larger party, reserve a private changing area, full-length mirror, chairs, good light and a controlled place for garments and valuables. A numbered rail or clearly separated bags are safer than a pile of unlabelled sarees.
